Spring Break 2023 hasn’t started, but there have been changes from the previous year that we can expect to see this year as well.\u00a0 Normally when the Spring Breakers arrive, the RVers leave.\u00a0 However, in 2022 there were still large caravans coming and going every week. The weather was great for tourism and for the people in RV\u2019s<\/a> on the Sea of Cortez.\u00a0 This is a boom for the economy and now we are now seeing that one US dollar is worth nearly 22 pesos.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It appears that most condos<\/a>, homes, and hotel rooms are already full, so if you are thinking of coming down, make sure you have a place to stay before you arrive.\u00a0 This also applies to the week before <\/span>Easter<\/i><\/b> and Easter weekend. <\/span>Semana Santa<\/i><\/b> reservations are always full nearly a year in advance.<\/span><\/p>\n

Car Show on the Malecon<\/h3>\n

The past weekend, <\/span>Puerto Pe\u00f1asco<\/i><\/b> residents as well as our winter visitors were treated to a great car show on the <\/span>Malecon<\/i><\/b>. These vintage cars come from here, the USA and several cities in Mexico such as Tijuana and Mexicali.\u00a0 The vehicles have been totally restored and the paint and detailing on them is really something. If you missed it, plan to mark your calendar for next year. It will take to you back to \u201cthe good old days\u201d when each brand of car was a different design from another. <\/span><\/p>\n

The Mexican people, much like the people of Cuba<\/a>, love their antiques cars and won\u2019t part with them for any amount of money.\u00a0 If you are interested in seeing some of them that are here full time, many are stored in a building across the street from <\/span>Numeros<\/i><\/b> on Blvd. Kino.\u00a0 If the garage door is up, ask if you can go in and see them.<\/span><\/p>\n

Traffic & Border Crossing During Spring Break Season<\/h3>\n

For the next few weeks, the traffic between the United States and Mexico, will be very heavy due to the various spring breaks.\u00a0 Make sure you are aware of what and what not you can bring into Mexico. They prohibit<\/a> meat, dairy products, fresh fruit and vegetables and more.\u00a0 You can go online to get the complete list. If you are bringing dog food, you are allowed 1-50 lb bag per vehicle. The food can contain chicken or fish, but nothing with hooves. <\/span>You are allowed 3 liters of liquor per person coming into to Mexico but only one going back to the United States. <\/span><\/p>\n

Going back to the United States, no meat or dairy products, fruits and vegetables are allowed.\u00a0 You are able to take 50 lbs of fish or shrimp for personal use, but not for a restaurant. Again, you can visit the border website if you have any questions on what can and can’t pass through.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Remember the border hours are 6 am to 8 pm, but there are some exceptions during major US holidays. The hours of 6 am to 10 pm will be for the following weekends: <\/span><\/p>\n
