About

Since 1999, Sunflower Bakery & Cafe has been serving a wide range of made-from-scratch breakfast and lunch items. As one of Galveston's iconic eateries, it's the perfect spot when you have a variety of diets to consider or when traveling with picky eaters.

This restaurant is quite spacious with a couple of different dining rooms, a bakery, and lots of outdoor seating. However, due to their popularity on the island, a short wait is still possible, especially on the weekend. You'll find that the decor is full of character and color, making the environment feel warm and inviting.

The mouth-watering smell of fresh-baked goods is apparent as soon as you walk in the door. Once you walk in, go past the host stand and head to the right side of the restaurant to reach this area. They carry a wide variety of delicious pastries, including muffins, cakes, danishes, and even wedding cookies. On the other end of the bakery, there is a cabinet full of various jams and even pancake mix for purchase. Additionally, they offer cold goods, including juices and their famous strawberry butter in a tin to go! Your biggest challenge at Sunflower Bakery & Cafe will be deciding what to order!

Vibe

The quaint, cottage-like facade features cheerful yellow accents and a cozy patio area. As part of the historic East End, it's an ideal choice when sightseeing the area.

The interior showcases rustic, charming elements, and local art makes the walls pop. The layout feels both homey and vibrant, while the natural light creates a relaxed, cheerful ambiance.
The in-house bakery is mesmerizing, with its vast display of freshly baked cinnamon rolls, cookies, and cakes.

Seating options are versatile, with a mix of indoor tables and outdoor patio seating. The patio is particularly popular on sunny days, offering a laid-back spot to enjoy brunch or coffee. The setting is large enough to accommodate both small and large gatherings, making it family-friendly.

The overall vibe at Sunflower Bakery & Cafe is relaxed and inviting, with a strong sense of community. Here, you can linger over a plate of crab cake eggs Benedict or challah French toast, sip on a mimosa, and feel right at home. Whether you're there for brunch, a quick coffee, or a sweet treat, the café offers a delightful experience that's quintessentially Galveston.

Sunflower Bakery & Cafe: Menu & Drinks

Whenever there is a choice for a sampler, we usually say go for it! Why choose one when you can sample a little bit of everything? With the bakery basket, you will receive a freshly baked Danish, a croissant, and a blueberry muffin. On the side, you will get their famously delicious strawberry butter to top it off. If you have a smaller table or appetite, we recommend ordering the biscuits and butter. You will receive two biscuits, fresh out of the oven, and the strawberry butter.

Go savory with their classic Huevos Rancheros. This dish includes two eggs and is served on a specialty corn-cake. In addition, your toppings include ranchero sauce, cheddar cheese, sour cream, and breakfast potatoes. So good!

No matter what side of the debate you are on between pancakes and waffles, at the Sunflower Cafe, you can have both to decide. Choose from two buttermilk pancakes or light and crispy waffles. Both will come with fresh whipped cream and berries. You can't go wrong with these breakfast staples.

In true Galveston fashion, even this breakfast-and-brunch restaurant incorporates seafood into many dishes. The tortilla-crusted fresh Gulf snapper is one of their house specialties. Dressed with guacamole, pico de gallo, and butter. All the house specialties come with house veggies and your choice of fries or mashed potatoes.

Adding Sunflower Bakery & Cafe to your Texas itinerary is a no-brainer!
